Let's talk about the weather....
Part of my life right now involves organizing that people help me with some or all of my kids during the week. Fiona, Lilian's favorite babysitter was here yesterday for 2 hours in the afternoon. She usually just watches Lilian and Emily during this time, but since the weather was so nice yesterday, I asked her if she could watch all 3 for 30 minutes so I could go on a walk. My walk was wonderful.....the weather here is great right now...about 85 degrees, sunny and almost no humidity. I took pictures on my I phone, but I cannot seem to attach them directly (technical question, do I have to download them on the computer and send it from there?). This kind of weather makes you think there is no better place to live.....these days do not come along that often, but when they do, they take your breath away.
This weather has some downsides as well....As you may know, we (as well as most Swiss) do not have AC. We rarely need it...but, on nights like last night, you really wish you did have it. Emily woke up crying around 10:30 pm and was not able to sleep until about 1 am. This can make any parent a bit crazy....Daniel thought she was too hot, so he opened all the windows and tried getting some cool air in. After this I feed Jordan twice before it was time to get up at 7 am. Needless to say, I was not very patient with the kids this morning.
This afternoon a new "mom-friend" came over. She is German and moved here about 6 months ago. She has a little boy about 2.5 years old and a little Helena that is a few weeks older than Jordan. We met at her house last week. Her house was really nice... Homey modern, I would say. Alot of wood, whites, and classic looks...and almost no clutter...wow. In general, I would say our house is clean and nice, but sometimes feel like it is cluttered....with 3 small childern, I guess you can imagine. We have a tractor in our living room right now that Lilian can drive around.....not to mention all the baby dolls and stroller and books....You get the picture. My point here is that I was feeling stressed out because I was comparing myself to her and was worried what she would think about me and our house. Turns out we played outside and she did not even see our house. As the time approached, and the stress of the rest of life was here (diapers that needed to be changed, kids that needed to be fed, etc), I decided I just had to leave the hair on the bathroom floor and the toys were they always are and say to myself...this is how we live, what I am trying to prove.
Well, I am nursing Jordan and typing, what about multi-tasking! I hope we can all go to sleep soon :-).

Oh!!! What a lovely update! New friends, walks ALONE IN BEAUTIFUL SUNSHINE, and the old comparison game. Her house sounds lovely and absolutely out of the realm of possibility for me to achieve. Sigh. I have been so fed up with my house lately. Just feels like we dragged a bunch of junk from goodwill/and the street in... oh wait, we did.
ReplyDeleteAdd hosting lots (ie spilled food on carpet, stacked wine bottles in recycling, etc) and a toddler (children books strewn about and items mysteriously in other rooms than where you left them...)
Well. You can imagine.
But anyways! SO GLAD you got out and found a new friend. So nice to hear updates.
I'm glad you didn't let that woman's house get to you. Houses are for living in, not for showing!
ReplyDeleteWe can imagine the loveliness of the day! So glad you got "a moment." May you ALL sleep all night tonight!!
You are a busy Mama!! This, too, will pass.
ReplyDeletelove you, Grandma
I'm glad you met a new friend.
